The Un-Common Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for the award-winning Broadway Musical CHICAGO to be presented at the Orpheum Theatre Foxboro in July.
Everyone loves a legend – but in Chicago during the roaring twenties, there's only room for one. Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie.
Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie meets up with another "Merry Murderess" Velma Kelly, who is not happy that Roxie is not only stealing her limelight but also her lawyer, Billy Flynn. Roxie and Velma both vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score, lavish production numbers and “all that jazz”!
Auditions will be held for students currently in grade 9 through age 21 on Monday, May 20th, 2013 from 6:30 pm by appointment only. If you are physicaly unable to attend the auditions, please contact us by email for information on presenting a video audition.

For auditions, please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. (We prefer that the song is not from Chicago). Please bring sheet music in the correct key.
Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons, and Monday and Thursday evenings beginning May 26th. Extra and later nights may be added as the show nears production week. Cast members are allowed 2 absences only, none the 3 weeks prior to show. A full rehearsal schedule will be made once the show is cast.
The production will take place at the Orpheum Theatre Foxboro on July 18 – July 21.
Production Fee: $200.
