2009-2010 SCHEDULE
OUR 30TH SEASON

Un-Common Theatre Company and Bay Colony Productions Present "PETER PAN"!

Peter Pan Ship

The Un-Common Theatre Company begins our 30th season with “Peter Pan”, the classic Broadway musical based on the play by James M. Barrie. This production, our second collaboration with Bay Colony Productions, will be performed at the Orpheum Theatre Foxboro on November 27-29, and December 4-6.

First produced on Broadway with Mary Martin and Cyril Richard and then a major hit starring Cathy Rigby, “Peter Pan” is one of the world's most celebrated musicals. “Peter Pan”, like its namesake, is a tale which never ages. Children and adults alike have all fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, and frightening adventures happen every single day. This show has all the charm of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, the children Wendy, Michael and John, pirates and Indians, embellished with show-stopping songs, "Never Never Land", "I Won't Grow Up" and "I'm Flying".

Directed by: Bill Cunningham
Choreographed by: Dori Bryan
Music Direction by: Esther Zabinski

Directed by Meg Lowey, a Foxboro High School Senior, Choreographed by Maggie Dowd, a Sharon High School Junior, and Music Directed by Un-Common veteran Linda Barbieri this talented cast of first through sixth graders and will transport you through Hans Christian Andersen's endearing tale of "The Little Mermaid".

Anemone (Erin Fitzgerald of Westwood, Ma), an adventurous little mermaid, leaves her undersea realm for a fifteenth birthday excursion to the surface. She hopes to find the prince of her dreams, whose statue she has found. Accompanied by her friends, Clem Clam (Ethan Gekow of Sharon, Ma) and Laura Lobster (Samantha Eddy of Mansfield, Ma), she begins her quest. But a jealous Sea-Witch (Cara DiPietro of Norfolk, Ma) threatens Anemone. In fact, Rip-Tide (Ben Reingold of Sharon, Ma) and Zip-Tide (Jack Manning of Westwood, Ma), the witch's nasty shark cohorts, terrorize all. The Sea-Witch magically conjures up a storm which sinks a ship carrying Prince Theodore (Daniel Fullerton of Mansfield, Ma). Anemone dives into the waves to save him, but not before she has been tricked into trading her voice to the Sea-Witch. As he recovers from his ordeal, the prince believes Georgina (Georgia Rose Fraser of Sharon, Ma), who discovered him on the rocks, saved him. The prince declares to all that she will be his wife; a fitting "thank you." Meanwhile, the prince has befriended the voiceless Anemone while Georgina, her heart belonging to another, resists impending marriage. Patience, love and friendship solve this delightful romantic puzzle.

“13” is a hilarious, high-energy musical with an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown. A grown-up story about growing up, "13" is a story for all ages about discovering that cool is where you find it, and sometimes where you least expect it.

When his parents get divorced and he's forced to move from New York City to a small town in Indiana, Evan Goldman (Alex Fullerton of Mansfield, Ma) just wants to make friends and survive the school year. Easier said than done. The star quarterback (Soyer Wilson of Westwood, Ma) is threatening to ruin his life and his only friend, Patrice (Mikayla Sabatino of Mansfield, Ma), won't talk to him. The school freak (Matt Hawley of Norwood, Ma) sees an opportunity for blackmail and someone is spreading the nastiest rumors.

Likely written early in his career, "Romeo and Juliet" is one of Shakespeare's most well-known tragedies. The now-famous plot, concerning two young "star-crossed lovers" torn apart by their feuding families, has become a fixture of popular culture. The Montagues and Capulets have been mortal enemies for as long as anyone can remember, and violence still plagues the divided city they both call home. during an uneasy peace, the unthinkable happens: a Montague, Romeo (Luke Doyle of West Greenwich, RI) falls for a Capulet, Juliet, (Meg Lowey of Foxboro, Ma) and the two conspire to make a life for themselves, but the culture of hate that surrounds them is impossible to escape.

Using the backdrop of modern-day Belfast, a city whose old wounds still keep it deeply divided, this production seeks to bring out the youth and beauty of the play while making it relevant to a contemporary audience.

Directed by Hofstra University BFA Major Keith Pinault of Mansfield, Ma, the talented cast of 16 young adults, bring this timeless story to life.

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. This show is funny, touching and moving and is recommended for ages 13 and over.

The cast of 12 talented and dedicated local young adults is directed by Christa Crewdson (Arlington, Ma) with Music Direction by Esther Zabinski (Fall River, Ma). For a full cast list Click HERE.
