OUR 29TH SEASON

THE WIZARD OF OZ

The Un-Common Theatre Company begins the season with the classic “The Wizard of Oz”. This joint venture with Bay Colony Productions, sponsored by Lake View Pavilion, will be performed at the Orpheum Theatre Foxboro on November 21-23,
November 28-30, December 5-7 and December 12-14.

THE WIZARD OF OZ based on the novel by L. Frank Baum, 'The Wizard of Oz' sees Dorothy's dream come true when she, her dog Toto, and her family's house are transported by a tornado to a bright and magical world unlike anything she has seen before. Unfortunately, she makes a mortal enemy of a wicked witch when the house falls on the hag's sister. Now, befriended by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart and a cowardly lion - and protected by a pair of enchanted ruby slippers - Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City to beseech the all-powerful Wizard of Oz for his help to return home.

LES MISERABLES, SCHOOL EDITION

This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes and honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.

Originally adapted from Victor Hugo’s timeless novel, Les Miserables, School Edition introduces a new generation to the grand and inspirational story that has touched the hearts of millions. For, within Les Miserables lies the universal truth “To love another person is to see the face of God” and this message is sure to have a lasting impact on all involved in this production.
