AUDITIONS FOR PUFFS (Two Act Edition)
The Un-Common Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for our Winter Play PUFFS (Two Act Edition) Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic by Matt Cox.
For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs, who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.
The New York Times proclaims PUFFS, “A FAST-PACED ROMP through the ‘Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.’ For POTTERphiliacs who grew up alongside Potter and are eager to revisit that world, ‘PUFFS’ exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry!”
This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.
Auditions for students in Grades 7 through 12 will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To make your appointment please fill out your online audition form by clicking the Puffs Audition Form button below.
In our ongoing effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission and to keep everyone as safe as possible, all participants age 12 and over will be required to be fully vaccinated and show proof of such at the audition check-in table. No student, age 12 and over, will be permitted to audition without it. In addition, we will be requiring that everyone in the audition building (auditioners and those accompanying them) wear a mask. Auditioners will be able to remove their masks when instructed (if comfortable) during the actual audition. At this time we anticipate masking during rehearsals, but will continually monitor guidance from the CDC and the state of Massachusetts and update our policies as needed.

For all roles, you will be sent a list of monologues. Please choose one and be prepared to act out one scene of your choosing.
Rehearsals are scheduled on Sunday and Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30 PM in Foxboro and Mansfield. Not all cast members will be required to be at all rehearsals. A complete rehearsal schedule will be made once the show is cast. Extra nights may be added as the show nears production week. Cast members are allowed 3 absences only, none the two weeks prior to the show. Participation in Un-Common’s upcoming production of The Addams Family is not considered to be a conflict.
The production will take place January 28-30, 2022 in Easton, MA.
Production Fee: $150 per cast member.
