AUDITIONS FOR SOMETHING ROTTEN!

The Un-Common Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for our Young Adult Production of Something Rotten!.

Welcome to the Renaissance and the outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten. Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years”.

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Auditions for students in Grades 9 through the age of 21 will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To make your appointment please fill out your audition form by clicking the button below…

Please allow 2-3 days to receive your reply.

In our ongoing effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission and to keep everyone as safe as possible, all participants will be required to be fully vaccinated (and boosted if eligible) and show proof of such at the audition check-in table. No student will be permitted to audition without it. Currently, in light of the rinsing number of cases in MA, we are asking all auditioners and anyone else in the building to wear a mask when they arrive for auditions. Auditioners will be able to remove their masks for their audition.

At this time we anticipate being mask optional for the cast during rehearsals and performances, but will continually monitor guidance from the CDC and the state of Massachusetts and update our policies as needed.
